What makes me happy?

Happy is such a short word for everything that it entails. What makes me happy? Things that happen in my life. Not all the things, of course. But also, not only joyful ones. It makes me happy to feel alive, which means feeling all sorts of feelings – from excitement to sadness, from pleasure to pain, from relief of letting go to the loss of what mattered.

Hap-py – can I call myself a happy person? I’m not sure. I can definitely call myself a “happening” person – I like this life that is happening to me. I like to feel the “happeniness” around me. All the encounters that are sudden and almost accidental, but not really. All the small and big discoveries of my children. My own discoveries – sometimes it feels like life can’t surprise me anymore, and then it does.

I love singing about that – words and music just come together to help me express all these feelings and all that life happening to me and those around me – “Life continues to surprise me”, “I’ve been through the storm, I’ve been through the light”, “I just want to be – no fear, no sadness. Yes I want to be, to be and that’s all”...

Being able to write, sing, talk about it makes me happy, makes me feel that something special and unique has happened to me. That my life is not in vain. That my life is a melody in itself, or rather a musical, where the heroine bursts into a song anytime it becomes too hard to speak...

Not only creating, but sharing it with those, for whom it matters. This truly makes me happy.
