About the event

This is our 40th multilingual writers' meet-up, and we are excited to have as our guest speaker Ania Bas - a Polish artist and writer living in England. Ania grew up in Poland and moved to the UK in 2004 to pursue a career in the arts. She has worked with Tate, Whitechapel Gallery and others as an artist and arts organiser. She began writing 'Odd Hours' on the Faber Academy 'Writing a Novel' course. It is inspired by her early experiences in the UK: as a tenant in an eight-person house share (with one bathroom), years in low-paid jobs, and multiple encounters of xenophobia.

Praise for 'Odd Hours':

'This wove a spell on me!' Marian Keyes, internationally bestselling author

'This enigmatic and idiosyncratic gem is eccentric, quirky and utterly original' Kevin O'Sullivan (Irish Examiner Book of 2022)

'Odd Hours is a brilliant satire on the struggles of life in the zero-hours sector ... An auspicious debut' Paul Mendez

Our meet-up will be via Zoom: you will receive a separate email with a link after your registration. Sometimes emails get lost: please check your Spam folder. We highly recommend reading Ania's novel "Odd Hours" in advance of our meet-up: this is not essential, but will help you make this meet-up more productive. We will discuss Ania's journey as an author, her experience of being represented by a literary agent and of being published both in the UK and in Poland, and her projects as a multi-disciplinary artist.

We look forward to seeing you in Zoom on Sunday, 22 September, 7pm London time!

Please register and email us with any questions at londonwritersgroup101@gmail.com
